IRF520 Mosfets/clipping diodes

hi guys new here,been kurking for a while,great forum

i need some help..questions.. can i use an IRF530 is place of a IRF520,it will be used as mosfet/ckipping diode,what other mosfets can u recommend,wil the bs170 be ok? cant find any 520's or 510's here,would there be a big diff soundwise?

I've been using BS170's for clipping stages with nice results.
The other good thing is that it won't take so much space in the circuit board.
BS170 in series with a germanium diode sounds nice too.
Actually that's been done in some commercial/boutique pedals also.
Probably BS107 would be worth a try also. It comes in a TO-92 case too
so it takes same space as BS170.
