Yarg. I built the Rangemaster (first "working" project) and it seems to work, no hissing, change in tone when switched on, however there is no boost. The volume is actually a little more quite when engaged. Any idea what would cause this? I don't know enough about how the circuits work at this point to be able to even guess why that would be happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The first thing to do is to flip the transistor around.  Sometimes the marker on old transistor denotes the emitter (usually) and sometimes the collector.

Ok.... So  I did that, and the volume problem is better, but the volume knob still doesn't seem to effect the sound as much as it should. I know that I have to fix the pot wiring because the volume turns the wrong way (all the way on is counter clockwise). I think I jsut need to swap the 1 and 3 "tab's" on the pot.

Also, I think I've seen two different types of pots used in various schematics. I used an audio pot, that should work, right?

I'm also getting some switch popping, but I haven't been able to add any resistors to the input/output caps yet, so hopefully that will go away. I'm guessing the resistor needs to go in between the cap and the input/output jack with the other end going to ground?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
