I got my '69 Fuzz working tonight, a great-sounding, versatile little box. I'm still playing with the Bias and Contour controls, getting used to what they do, but have a question on the trimpot.
Is the idea to get the collector of Q2 set to 4.5v?

Thanks, (Easyvibe coming up next)

im having trouble getting that same pedal to work my self, howd you do it?

Bucksears

I rewired it for positive ground. It worked right off the bat. Sounds really good, a lot of gain range (does a nice overdrive). I was (naively) hoping to sound a bit closer to Eric Johnson, but.....it still sounds good.

I'm guessing that the collector on Q2 needs to be at 4.5v, so I'll give that a shot.

So, do you figure there's a problem with the negative ground layout?

I'm planning to convert mine from positive to negative ground.

Bucksears

Not sure on the neg-ground layout, all I know is that the pos-ground config worked for me.

Haha,me to,i been messin with mine for weeks, partly because i dropped it to start a tone machine, but i need to order some more diodes for that.

I can say neg ground is pretty sucky, pos ground makes lots of difference,in a good way. I'm just gonna use a trimpot for the bias resistor and  increase input/output caps ,its to thin for my liking,i can see it being a sick fuzz tho! :icon_mrgreen: eventualy!

Edit: i thought you meant the standard fuzzface :icon_rolleyes:,yea well mines starting to look more like the 69 anyways, just about everythings been substituted ,lots of fun tho!
