Hi!

Well it's not really a stompbox but I think it's fairly on topic anyway..

Thing is that I have an old Atari Punk Console-build that I put together some time ago. I was thinkin of throwing out the pots and putting in some photo cells (or photo resistors if wou will).

The pots are 500k, so I suppose I should look for 500k photo cells, right?

So I surfed on to Banzaieffects.com, and the closest I could find was: " Photo Cell 100 - 200k ON ".
Now, are they 100k, 200k or something in between..? An explanation in how photo cells work would also be great!
(Yeah I've tried google)

I think Allied electronics has quite a few options for photocells... I don't see why a 200k wouldn't be fun, though.... most of the action on the 470k (500k) is near the beginning anyhow.
Breadboards are as invaluable as underwear - and also need changed... -R.G.

Don't use 1M photocells.   I tried that and they don't work at all.
