I perfed up Dragonfly's "Seven Fuzz" using the layout posted on the first thread as a rough guide. I had to sub a few parts etc... to keep the cost down but I stayed pretty close to original values (5k instead of 1k Fuzz pot, 22k resistors instead of 33k and finally a 25k pot instead of a 10k for bias). It turned out real good and can get pretty aggressive using the "gain" knob together w/the fuzz control. Here are some very quick samples I recorded just to get a feel for the circuit. A couple things I did notice right off:

- the Sag control will never make the pedal completely "die", just a lower volume a bit and the tone gets real grainy.
- the Tone control loses volume when going max to the bass side, although there is a lot of range in the tone control and the volume is easily recovered w/volume control.
- the Sustain pot is my favorite, really can get sputtery and misbiased sounding.

All in all a very cool fuzz though. Not really any weird and wild noises but lots of tone shaping available! Thanks to Andy (Dragonfly), and the Italian guy who made the layout for his first post here. On a couple of the clips I'm just turning the corresponding control through the full pot rotation. Here are the clips:

Yeah! I dig this circuit. It has a nice growl to it.
I'll have to put this on the list to do.
Nice one Tony!

You can put a 25K resistor across the Bias pot to get 12K which is closer to 10K.
Same with the 5K fuzz pot to get closer to 1K.

This fuzz is definitely what I was looking for! :icon_cool:
I'm just going to etch the pcb...

Very cool samples tungngruv, thank you!

Hey gnognofasciani , thanks for taking the time to draw up a pcb. It really made it easy for me to perf the circuit and it worked flawlessly. Sorry about the "Italian guy" remark. That's the only language I could use to translate the other forum on Babelfish. Glad you like the samples! Thanks again.

Don't worry, "the italian guy" sounds cool just like a movie ;D

7 knobs? What ever happened to simplicity?

John Lyons

You can build it without any knobs if you like, but 7 knobs is what it takes to get the variety of sounds the circuit has available.

I really like the sound of these clips! Nice work guys and thanks for sharing.

Tungngruv, could you give us any details on your guitar/amp recording chain?

79' 50watt Marshall jmp MK2 on the "low" input. Almost impossible to get amp distortion using that input. Then into the Seven Fuzz and an Ibanez w/HB's (tone zone and a sreamin demon).

sounds great !

im glad youre liking it !
