A friend of mine is having some trouble with this circuit, and also to register in the forum, so here I am, in his name, to ask for some help:

"Hi, I have some questions... I have made the ruby amp... it works good...  to make it doesn't look like a toy with poor speakers

I've asked runoffgroove for tips on placing a tonestack before the ruby... in order to supply the lack of volume due to the passive tonestack, I've made some modifications according to the circuit that he had sent to me..

That's the circuit of the jpeg.. it's the fetzer valve before the tonestack, then the tonestack and then the buffer of the ruby

It worked ok, the tonestack is very good BUT on speakers... there's a buzz sound on higuer volumes and gains.. but happens only to the speaker... don't happens with line in on another amp... ah..the battery is good...
While testing (a LOT OF TESTING) I had made some notes:

I think the fetzer is incompatible with the buffer of/and ruby... If I put the out of the gain stage (fetzer) in the pin 2 there's a lower volume but the buzz sound still there..... at maximum of volume and gain...
That only happens at higher volumes.. why's that? Maybe something with the gain of the gain stage...

If I let the gain stage volume lower to don't have buzz sound anymore... the volume is something like that if I don't was using the gain stage... a bit more of volume to supply the tonestack and then the buzz.....
I have tried all of sort of things... no good.... I was searching here for something like this on the forum.. but no luck...

This tonestack is too good for just letting it away... and I need to know why that's happening..
I'm using the lm386-n1 for the ruby.. maybe it's that? since no one had problems like this?

I couldn't find the jrc nor the n4 IC
I'm using the http://www.muzique.com/lab/tone3.htm for the tonestack..
A tone based control with presence... very good!!!!

Well.. thanks...."

Any kind help is appreciated.  :)

I recently replaced the circuit in my Pignose with a Ruby amp with a lot of success, and i get a lot of the same buzz from the speaker. I';d bet it's just because of the lame speaker, though. I'm thinking about building a new enclosure with a Weber Blue Pup 8" with heavy doping to avoid the "cone crY' which is what i think we're both experiencing.

Hi.
Try to replace the 220uf before the speaker with a 100uf and the 100uf from 9v to ground with a 220uf or a 470uf
