Hi All,

I thought some here might be interested in seeing one my enclosures come together, so I took pic's of some of the main steps......

They are for sale in the For Sale thread if anyone is interested... (3 already sold.. only 2 left out of this batch....)

First up, a 4" ring cut from a 4" 6061 T6 Aluminium Tube, with a piece of .080 3003 H14 big enough for the bottom and top and 4 small pieces of 6061 T6 for the cleats to hold in the bottoms. There is also a finished bottom shown, before any drilling.

Here, you can see the bottom cleats welded in and the both the bottom and cleats drilled out to get ready for countersinking and mounting of the bottom.

Pretty good closeup of the welds holding the cleats....

Cleats in, bottom drilled and countersunk and screws installed. Orion, the wild eyed shop cat managed to get his snout in this pic...

Top plate tack welded on the outside and you can also see the brazing fillet that goes around the inside of the entire top.

Tops all cleaned up and sanded and ready to ship.

Thanks all for all your encouragement support and advice. I will say it now, like I have said it  before, this is the best DIY community out there.. bar none....

Thanks again,

Mick

Yeah Pete, they are super strong... the sidewalls are .125 think, so they are plenty strong.

As for putting them together, best case, it takes about 1.5 - 2 hours per enclosure... closer to 2 hours once you factor in all the sanding and final finishing. If I run into issues, it takes longer of course.... and these are the easy ones... it takes much longer for me to do the recessed ones....about twice as long....

As for Orion... he was named that when we bought him from the breeder.. we liked the name and it stuck....

Thanks all,

Mick

He probably thinks at least one of those enclosures should be filled with Tender Beef Feast.

Keep up the good work!

Dan, you could not be more correct. I've heard it said that Dog's have masters and Cat's have staff.

I have 2 cat's and they think I exist to feed them..... Orion is a 16lb pure bred Maine Coon and he has an appetite.... I bet he was thinking.. hhhhmmm, 2 dishes.... maybe twice the food.... Feed Me... Feed me....

Thanks,

Mick

Great work Mic, I still need to get one of your other enclosures.  They look real nice.  Keep up the good work!  Say hi to Orion for me, I love cats.  He looks pretty pissed that those "bowls" dont have food eh?  Like Dan N said heh.

I still have some large and small recessed ones that are not sold yet because people have not responded to thier PM's.... I will make those available in the For Sale forum shortly..... Keep an eye out for that post....
