What dual and quad opamps do you use?  just curious as I am doing some research.  thanks in advance and much love.  antonio.   :icon_lol:

I have another LM324 sitting around here, I haven't really figured out a use for it, If I was designing a high gain thing I think I'd start with two duals instead, then maybe quad and compare...too much trouble to find out.
Duals are sometimes known as prone to noise wierdness, under certain circumstances.
I haven't seen many layouts calling for quads, maybe the reason is less experimentation has gone into it because of the 'risk of' or 'reality of' quad may have disadvantages, always a plus to have as many 'advantages when experimenting.

GibsonGM

TL072 for dual;  low-noise.  4558 if I don't care, such as in an overdrive/distortion.  One of my ancient 1458s on occasion if just playing with a circuit, until I can order better OA's - they are just 2 LM741s.

For quad, I only have TL064s left over from my original EasyVibe build, so I use those.  Don't  get into quads too often, tho...

None I've tried out-mojo the little LM 741. [single]
I don't know if that kind of mj can be found in a Dual Opamp.
  -----
Anything is fine as long as it works, and is deemed 'right' for the application, no others show promise of 'outdoing' it in some way...ie most OA's just fine work very consistantly, every once in a while a certain type may offer a fairly clear advantage.

  Test
  1A. Can I tell the difference between comparing a 'TL072 and the same TL072' // to comparing a TL072 to a JRC4558?
1B Tell which one is which.
Depending on the application of course...I doubt I could do better than 50% with a TS as circuit testbed.
  ---
If you have a low current requirement...get a 'low current consumption' device to work with [Ex. EZ vibe tick].
If you want more room between the signal swings and the rails, try something closer to a 'rail to rail' type opamp to allow for greater headroom [or bump the PS voltage up to 12v..]...Ex. OS comp or booster.
  ^reverse for opposite effect.
...you'll begin to see that 'most of the time a working circuit is fine [find a better sounding device..use 'it], if the application calls for a specific type for best results, there is generally a reason [you'll have to figure out separation of 'mojo' reasons from the 'functional practicality' reasons...
Most often when I read about a TS opamp outdoing a Dual Opamp, the reported 'advantage' is texted independantly of what amp, guitar, speaker, settings, etcetera
Transistors vary from one to the next, opamps 'of same type' = comparitively consistant performance.
