Problem with a Ruby

I've breadboarded a Ruby (But just the amplifying part, not the buffer), and it worked just fine. I tried adding an LPB directly to the board, with the output directly at the Ruby input (No volume pot). I used the same battery for both circuits, i.e. both had the same +9v and GND sections. I didn't alter the Ruby section (apart from moving the input jack to the LPB). The Ruby went silent. So I figured something is wrong, and started tinkering with the connections. Nothing. So I removed the LPB section and wired the guitar straight to the Ruby, and it's still not working!
Could it be that i've burnt the opamp (LM386)? What else could have happened?

My multimeter is at my friend's. so I won't have it for the next week or so, so I can't get voltage readings.

Problem solved!
The red wire of the battery clip snapped off. Now i'm hotwiring the circuit to the battery, without a clip.

Also, today I got a bigger, badder speaker - 10W / 16 ohm. It sounds amazing. Now I need to go get some veroboard and make this amazing amp :)

(Why can't I edit the first post?)
