After all the bad luck with the forum recently, I was due some good luck.

At the flea market today, I was walking around and I see a bunch of test equipment.... I look at it and most of it is not useful for me except..... what's that thing on the table? I check it out - it looks like a capacitor/inductor tester. I casually ask how much.... $35. What a steal, but I think do I need this? I walk away knowing that I will never see it again. I know I need to pick it up.

I go back and my better half asks $30? He says, sold! I ask if it works, he said he wouldn't sell it if it didn't.

I take it and it works! Manual included along with capacitor forming widget on back. I love tools!

Congratulations! You can't even get a cheap tester that does ESR for anywhere near that cheap. Now you can presort all you're electrolytics for lowest ESR and improve the quality of your circuits before they're even built. I've been doing it for a few months now and I think it's making a difference. It's also a huge help when you're sorting out "grab bags" full of questionable caps of undetermined age.

Ah yes, the LC100 family. I should have know by the grey case colour. A very good piece of equipment to have. It has nice features for testing of HV caps for tube amps.

Ah....  The sense of satisfaction in getting a really nice piece of gear for next to nothing. 
And it's a good bet that the seller is happy with the $30 in his pocket and no more comments from his girlfriend about all that unused electronics stuff.
