Hi friends,
I have a hard question about footswichs, so any help will be great. In this
moment I have a hotbox preamp (use a dpdt to switch from clean to dirty)
and a LM3886 power module, they are working ok.

I want to use it like a combo amp and want to add a external footswitch
control but don't know how to make it. I read a lot of schematics and found
something at a marshall 8080, but cant understand how it works and how
to implement with my preamp amd amp.

Please someone help me to understand how it works.

Thanks
Ronaldo

The footswitch is the least of your worries.

You'll need some kind of remote switch that can actually take the place of that DPDT you're using to change from clean to dirty now. A relay is the obvious answer. Then you need to do something about switching the relay remotely with the footswitch.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks for your reply R.G.,
There are any special relay component that is ok to be used as a switch with audio
circuits like my example? I'm reading your articles at GeoFx, and some component
that I could read datasheed will be great to understand how to use relays, and how
to apply them in my circuit. Thanks a lot.

Sorry about my poor english language.
