blue or new clipper?

Built a Tonepad Blue Clipper a while back and was just thinking about it and remembering how dark and muddy it seemed. I love the gain it has and a friend really likes it's dark tone. Although I always have to wind back the bass on the amp just to get some definition. All very subjective stuff. Anyway I was wondering if there is any sonic differences with the New Clipper, maybe a little brighter perhaps?
I haven't looked at the schemes for a while so I cant remember whats different about them. Just thought I might ask for some opinions if anyone has built both before I try subbing some values for a New Clipper
Maybe I should check if I got the input/output caps right first!

  yupp...lol
Schematic comparisons should reveal where the Diff's are, and what they do can pretty much be cyphered from the schematics .. -the 'subjective aspects.
OD250 and DIST+ Share mostly the topology [if not all] and some of the values of the Blue and New Clippers, two more sources of similar schematic comparison fodder.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

After numerous other builds I finally got around to brightening the tone of my Blue Clipper.
Ended up just changing the output cap from .033 to .0047uf.
I also tried the two 20k bias resisters suggested for the New Clipper,
But went back to the 200k and 240k for more gain and mushy misbias vibe, definately more wild.
I noticed that the Tonepad scheme and layout shows the diodes direction opposite to that of the New Clipper.
The Tonepad scheme shows the first diode off the 8k2 resister has the anode to ground, the New Clipper has the cathode to ground.
I'm not sure if it should really make a difference as both diodes just go to ground, but I prefer it as shown on the TonePad layout. Am I imagining the difference I hear? As orientated a'la Tonepad it is more raunchy. More subjective fodder to contemplate.

Funny this should come up today as I just modified my Blue Clipper this afternoon.  I put sockets in for the bias resistors and replaced them with a 100k trimmer.  I also replaced the clipping diodes with 3mm yellow LEDs.  I should add that I also used a 100k regular pot instead of the a trimmer for volume, but that as part of my original build.  To my ears this has brightened up the sound some.  Overall, it seems less muddy to me, and I think the changes have made it a bit better for general use.

I built mine into an enclosure with a Red Ranger before the BC and a Purple Peaker and Green Ringer after it.  Running the RR on the Treble Boost seeting into the BC gives a little more crispness as well.

Thats a cool thing to do with the color series, I'd find it hard to decide on an order to place them though!
Just subbed the .0047 for a .01uf on the output, now I should just leave it alone.
I have the input/output caps, bias resistors and diodes socketed. Too much tweakability perhaps
Can anyone explain the diode orientation thing? and if it makes any difference. My limited understanding says no, but I hear one.
