I've had this phaser for a looong time. I was curious so drew out the circuit for it. It runs on 18volts. Two 9volt batteries. It isn't phasing much at the moment the effect is quite light. I guess that's the LDR's? I wouldn't mind getting it working on 9volts for convenience. Would I get away with just modding the LED driver? It's got 6 stages although I've only drawn 2 here. The transistor is actualy a BC149. I think this phaser is late 70's or early 80's.

Is the one LED used for all 6 LDRs?

Yes just 1 LED. Here's a pic

Looks like the LED and LDR's are potted in clear epoxy or something. I tested the resistance of the LDR's with the cover off. They are all over the place as low as 4k up to a few Meg. I tried it on 9volts and adjusted the trim for the transistor. It worked but less intensity and hardly any effect.
