clean octave up and down

is there any schem for a clean octave up/down?
i don't want fuzz just the octave effect

Legitimate question, but BOY has it been asked often!

Two responses:

1) Search the forum for previous threads.

2) General consensus is that neither are easily realizable in the analog domain.  You'll always get some audible distortion simply because of how octaves are obtained.  It's just a question lof how much and how willing you are to sacrifice clarity for the goal of having something that doesn't sound distorted.  Finally, up and down use different processes.

I did search the forum but couldn't find a schemo for a pedal that does both

I have no problem if it is analog or digital as long as i can easily get the parts

any recommandetions?

Search around for the Pearl Octave pedal, it does one and two octaves down and one octave up.  I know I've seen the schematic on the web somewhere.

Just keep in mind that there is a world of difference between a digital harmonizer that upshifts or downshifts the *entire* signal, regardless of how many notes are involved, and an analog octaver that will only handle one note ata time in down mode (and consequently tends to force mono properties on the up mode as well if they are to be used concurrently),

All analog octaves up/down cause some notable degree of distortion.

Clean octaves require not just digital, but DSP. There is a digital and dsp forum but there have been no octave shifting designs there. I don't know of any DIY digital octave up/down.

The cleanest of the octaves up is the MOS Doubler at GEO. But that doesn't help with your octave down, and it's a single-note-at-a-time effect, like all analog octaves.

I did try that Super Octaver. It did produce somewhat clean up and down octaves as I remember. However it was some time ago and I was never pleased with the circuit. After many mods and tryouts it ended up in my "box of never completed circuits"
