Hello Everyone,
Sorry this is a re-post. I posted it nn the beginner project and the saw it was questions just related to the boost. I am new to the boards here and I am trying to stock up on some supplies and put a project list together. I found a place for PCB Board Blanks. I was wondering if this is the right material to use and if these prices were any good. I super excited about being a part of this great forum. I have been silently sitting back and reading and leaning for the last month. I have probably spent 200+ hours on here. I already have the sickness pretty bad. LOL. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I bought some blank sheets from John Lyons on this forum. They're MUCH better quality and a better price than what I was buying at Radio Shack. And he'll cut them to whatever size you want....

Thanks for the plug phil!

That board thickness is very thin.
The stuff I use is .060 and some is .047. Most board thickesses that work well for pedals are some where in between those numbers.
Not that you couldn't use anything else but I like a nice stout board.

+1 for johns boards, they are better looking and cheaper than the stores i frequent!

How many +'s can I give John? I still need to solder up the boards I got off him but they are ace and I can't wait to give them a try!

PerroGrande

+1 on John's boards.  I bought a few a while back, and they're excellent!

I'm sure John's boards are great, but I think it's worth mentioning that the thickness given in the OP's description is probably the thickness of the 1 oz copper, not of the board substrate.  1.4 thousandths of an inch is less than a twentieth of a millimeter, and even the "scissor cut" stuff that Electronic Goldmine sells is about 10 times thicker than that.  That said, I don't think the fact that it's FR-4 says anything conclusive about its thickness.

Could you tell us who the vendor is?  On the face of it, the prices seem pretty reasonable to me, but I would want to know how thick the fiberglass is.

Check out ebay. I picked out 20 pieces of 10x12 double sided 1 oz for 20 bucks

I agree with Michael.  I just received 10 NOS boards from ebay for $10, and that's shipping included.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I am going to get them from John. It also helps some body on the forums and I know it will be a good quality product. John, I will follow up with you over the next week or so. I am going to actually buy a bunch of stuff to stock my bench. Also going to get a couple of boards from tonepad. I was thinking a couple of the Fuzz Faces so I could try the difference with silicon vs. germanium as well as Big Muff Triangle. To get my feet wet for the first project or two. Then I could try etching the boards.

The place I was looking if anybody is interested was

They have a pretty sweet etching tank with a heater and pump. It says will heat etchant to 100F and boards take minutes. It seems pretty cheap for $40.00. Anyone ever tried this setup?
