So i built this much raved about circuit, and I must say I'm impressed! low part count, great tone, very edgy.

maybe a bit too edgy.

i made 2 subs, in place of the 51 pF i used a 47pF, and in place of the 330uF electro i used a 220uF. what i'm wondering is how i can take just a tiny bit of the harshness off the top? also, i didn't really get into the pedal until i ran a rocket boost in front of it, so i'm thinking i'll probably install one in the front of the circuit. it seems there just isn't enough breakup in the pedal, and when it finally does it seems not quite smooth enough. is this a characteristic of the pedal or is it possibly my build only?

used gauss markov's layout and project file:
http://www.gaussmarkov.net/layouts/redllama/project.pdf

any pointers for mods to this circuit?

patrick, give this a shot.. sounds like what you're looking for:

(from the faq)
"A Jake Nagy special! Put a smallish value capacitor on the output lugs of your volume pot (from signal to ground) to clear up the high end "buzz and hash" from your pedal and give it instant smoothness!

Try different values from 220pf to .0015uF or even larger values depending on the amount of high frequency content you want to remove."

That's what we like to hear.....one that actually WORKS!!  :icon_biggrin:
Seems all week it's been Llamas and EA Trem builds failing miserably.

You noticed that too ?

Not too many successful builds these days. Most of the time the answers that people need are in the WIKI or in the "Debugging...." thread.

Oh well.

Barcode..congrats...its a really nice circuit. Go out and get yourself some more 4049's and 4069's are start playing with them on the breadboard. They're capable of a vast array of cool sounds, noises, and effects.

oh, don't get me wrong, i still have a (record?) 4 unsuccessful EA builds sitting on my desk, I've now given up an started salvaging them for parts. :)

jlullo, i'll give that a shot!

ps - jonathan, why no TN shows still?  >:(

jonathan, thanks for the heads up on that mod, it sounds KILLER now. i mean that truly was a night and day difference, and the tone is amazing now. sounds awesome alone, then really livens up when i run my AMZ mosfet booster or my rocket boost in front. this one goes on the board.

That circuit is a favorite of mine Patrick.
Good for you and Congratulations!

patrick... you actually made my night.  i can't believe i suggested something that actually helped :) haha

this circuit is one of the next ones for me, so i'll play with that mod myself

no shows in TN, and unfortunately i don't think there will be.... if you get my drift

This is a handy thread for me, I love my Red Llama at times but have a similar problem. What value cap did you use? I'll try that one first
