I'm working on my first pedal in 10 years.  I'm a little rusty and have looked up on the wiki here about reading the E,B and C of the common transistors, but I am left with a question.

I got this from smallbear along with most of the other parts and its a US PNP germanium transistor according to the paper stapled to the baggie it came in.  Am I to assume that the side with the little tab is the Emitter, as it shows in the WIKI piece on transistors?  The way the leads are stuck into the underside of the transistor, into the gel stuff, shows the tab side would be the collector.

I cant read the writing on top of the transitor other than what looks like 2N19-scribble-scribble.

Any help please?

It is for a Dallas Rangemaster according to the Geofx schematic and walkthrough.  I'm doing it on perfboard.  I'm not sure what else to add I hope thats sufficient.

Mmmm...should i be reading it from the bottom?

yes ::) its so like me to overlook details.  Maybe thats why it took me 10 years to pick up a soldering iron.
