Hi
I've built a npn version of the Easyface. It works, but I'm not completely happy with it.
I'm using a 2n3904 or BC108 in the first position and AC187 in the second.
The sound is good with the volume up, but it cleans up a bit too dramatically, i think.
Also, the sound is very thin with the guitars volume down.
I've trier with two germaniums(AC127 and/or AC187), and this gives a better sound with
the volume down, but not much gain. Also the sound is kind of dull.
What's wrong with the si/ge combo, and can anyone recommend some npn ge's better suited
for this circuit?
Kind Regards Jazzman

I made a NPN version too and used a BC108 and AC127/2SD30 Ge transistors with close to equal results.
Well, I must say I definetely got the Fuzz Face sound I had in my mind, the volume control interaction is superb, the snore it provokes in my amp is beautifull.
That is my experience.
I've used it with a Parker P-30 (Chinese made Strato-like guitar w/ 3 single coils), so it presented a good sustain and distortion level without higain pickups.
Pagan and happy!
