Hey guys...i'm forced to annoy you once again with my annoying noob questions...

anyway, i just came from the electronics store and found out that i was given a wrong diode than from what i ordered. i have a HER105 diode, which is rated 1a 400v  (if  that helps any). what i needed was a 1n4002 for my rat build (http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=89 )...

the 1n4002 is rated @ 1a and 100v...

would something bad happen if i put this into the circuit? since im too lazy to go to the store, id get the 1n4002 only if something bad happened...its so far away...

Thanks for your time, guys.

EDIT: Dont look at the horrid spelling :(

You should be fine.  The voltage rating is the maximum reverse voltage that the diode can withstand.

thanks for the reply!

let's have a few more...just to confirm it 100% (not that i dont trust you  :icon_lol:)

Your can try any diodes you want including LED's.  The different diodes will clip and sound different.  Although I don't know about the diodes you'll be using.   I put a DPDT stomp switch so I coud switch between diodes and LED's for that Turbo Rat sound.

it will alter the sound  :o
???
Doesn't sound good

using a different diode (that includes germanium ones and LEDs, as well as transistors and polarity protection diodes in an IC ;))  will only result in minor differences in the sound, which you might want to experiment with. Nothing bad happens at our measly little 9V unless you mistake a tube power supply for a clipping diode. ;)

ah well, i'll try this diode, and hope for the best.

Thumbs up to all of you  :-*
