Sorry this is not an acttual stompbox questions but I knew some of you would have some advice to offer.
What are the differences between these two amps besides the tone control on the cricket?
Does anyone recommend one over the other? I've already buit the little gem and it's cool but I have a nice enclosure and I want to build another amp,
just wondering which I should put in it. Thanks!!

The Noisy Cricket is based on the runoffgroove Ruby, which is similar to the Little Gem. The NC adds a tone control and a 'grit' mod. It's pretty easy to build and has a great sound, I'd say it is worth a build. Lot's of layouts on the gallery here.

+1 on this.  For the few extra components that go into the NC, it gives a lot more versitility in sound.

cool, thanks guys. also i see this questions has been put forth a few times before. i was in a hurry this morning and didnt
think or have time to search.

but what i cant find is a perfboard layout for this. the search function in the gallery has never once worked for me. it must only
work if the picture file name is named after whatever  project it is or something.

Beavisaudio.com has a layout for building a Noisy Cricket using a dual general purpose IC board available at Radio Shack.  I was thinking of using that myself the next time I build one.
