Solderless offboard connector question

Hi, I've been looking through mouser for an offboard wire connector on and off for some time now, kind of like the adaptor found on the board of the Vox 847 wah pedal and crybaby wah pedals.  All wires going to the board meet at a connector and then slide onto the board using the adaptor thing.  Pretty much, I've found the part that goes on the board and I think I've found the base of the adaptor.  These are the mouser part numbers:  571-872328 and 571-104482-3  however, I am unsure how I would get the wire to stay inside the connector.  On the same page of the mouser catalog as the second part number I've shown, it lists a "crimping tool" for 500 dollars... would this be required?  Is there any other way I can get wires to crimp inside without requiring this?

Thanks.

IIRC, Radio Shack has connectors like that and you can use a punchdown tool to wire them.
The punchdown tool is about as expensive as a scewdriver (looks similar too).

Cheers!

She was funny like that.

Or you could go molex.
After going to Molex's website, I've found almost exactly what I was looking for (I think).  I REALLY appreciate the help!

Truly, the biggest learning curve I've experienced in DIY is sourcing parts not offered by smallbear, ppp, or effectsconnection.  I've gotten fairly good and the usual components at mouser and digikey, but new things are always a challenge.  I'll never forget my first mouser purchase.... all the caps I bought that came back were HUGE!  Didn't check voltage ratings or dimensions on them... I mean they were giants.  My girlfriend will never let me live that down.
