All,

I just built the Modified Rangemaster (NPN), and it actually works!

I now want to build it using a PNP transistor, so in addition to switching polarity of the battery and electro caps, do I also switch the diodes?

Thanks in advance!  Rock on!

The Modified Rangemaster uses 1 GE and 1 SI diode.

If I could figure out how to paste the layout, I would show you.

Huh.?
Interesting, never heard of it but, that don't mean nuttin'!  :D

jlullo

i'm assuming the Si is polarity protection, and the Ge is a reversed biased diode for that whole temperature regulation of the Ge tranny.....

to answer your question, yes- reverse everything that is polar, including the diodes.... and of course your battery connections

Baktown

On any other type of circuit would the polarity of diodes be reversed when converting from NPN to PNP?

BTW, the modified RM is on The Big Man's gallery.  It uses different input caps with a switch to change tone.

It sounds really good using a 2N3904, but I have quite a few different PNP germanium's I want to try on it, hence the conversion to PNP.

Thanks for the info Jonathan!
