Search high-pass filter and low-pass filter, also splitter/mixer, such as this: http://www.runoffgroove.com/splitter-blend.html
I will quietly resist.

I've read somewhere it is "just" a 3 band EQ pedal (bas / mid / treble) with weird names for the parameters
Am learning something new every day here

Isn't the "dry" control just sort of a blend, mixing straight signal with eq'd signal?

The "Woody" acoustic simulator I made does something like that, albeit with some "exciter" clipping of the high end.  There is a fixed lowpass, a fixed highpass, and some clean signal.  When the lowpass signal level is increased, it tends to cancel out a bit of the mids in an interesting and useful way; conceivably due to some group delay in the lowpass filter.  I would imagine that a variable blend of the clean signal could achieve some of what the Knockout does.  You'd need to pick both your filter slope and corner frequency wisely, though.

The description sounds rather like the Carl Martin Contour & Boost, with a mixable straight signal. I was not to impressed with that one, backin my obsessive pedal-buying days.
