Hi,

I am looking at building the Fat Boostered booster (well, actually integrate it into another project but thats a different story..) and was wondering if there is a way of bypassing the tone controls to create an uncoloured (as much as can be) boost?

Looking at the schematic, my current thought would be to use a DPDT for each control to switch the pot out for a resistor which would give "unity tone" (for want of a better phrase!). This would allow the Bass and treble pots to be turned on and off.

So, a) would my idea work? and b) is there a more elegant 1 switch solution? (or if my suggestion doesnt work, any solution!!)

Cheers!!

Based on this schematic, I think you should be able to use half of a DPDT to switch out each control if it's set up like this:

In position 1 (middle lugs connect to top), the signals from C8 and C7 go to their respective pots for tone control, and one end of each fixed resistor is disconnected ("left hanging").
In position 2, the C8 and C7 are connected to their respective fixed resistor and one end of each tone control variable resistor is disconnected.

You'll obviously have to tune the fixed resistor values for "unity tone."

Hope that helps,

Spot on, that is exactly what I'm looking for!

Cheers!
