Axial capacitor polarity question

I picked up some axial caps to use for the first time cause they were cheaper and I'm not sure if they are polarized. 
Already used them in a circuit assuming they were'nt (circuit doesnt work) so know I'm wondering...

Yeah, that's polarized. The positive end has the recess and the plus signs (also the positive ends always have the rubber bung).

Thanks. Another cap I used is much smaller, doesnt have the recess, and the plus signs are close to the middle of the cap.
It confused me!
