3PDT wiring variety

Does anyone see any advantage to grounding as shown in diagram#2 of the Fulltone 3PDTs?

as opposed to using the 3 common terminals for ground, jack in, and jack out? one side for the tbp jumper and the other for side for the effects in and out and cathode of LED?
