so what would that be, some sort of tonebender? whatever it is it sounds like it could be cool.

Nope...just a cool germanium fuzz-distortion with a tonestack and a gain stage to make up for any volume loss caused by the tonestack.

If you put a full range rangemaster in FRONT of a Perc, its more tonebender-ish, but still different....

Well I breadboarded the Perkulator and it is a nice sounding fuzz.  I used LED's as the clippers for it and it was nice and full.  Although I like both the Jerk and the Perk I'm leaning more towards a less fuzzy Jerkulator excluding the diodes.  The HP is definitely a nice sound fuzz pedal though.  It has some cool oscillation and some sustain going on there.  I'll have to look into some of the suggestions given here and try them out too.  So I'll just keep experimenting and see what comes out of it.

they are pretty different for being the "same" thing.

I just built a Percolator from that schem.  At full up it is a pretty sick fuzz that does seem to retain some of the original guitar tone and low end.
Super controllable feedback including the albini type harmonix trick.  Roll back the guitar volume and it gets more overdrivee.
Sounded great through the old brown Super.

Nice trick Andy, it can be used on many situations. Not only a RM but any booster.
