Noob Looking To Learn About Schematics And Circuits

Ive put together a couple of BYOC pedals and had great fun doing it. I would like to move past the "paint by numbers approach" and learn to read schematics and also learn what exactly is going on in the circuit.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
