If I only need one pole of a DPDT switch, how do I treat the second pole? Do I need to ground any or all of it?
I'd like to avoid buying more SPDT switches, especially since I just traded a bunch away.  :icon_redface:

Think of it like the other half of a sandwich you weren't particularly interested in.  Just ignore it.

You'll have an extra side of the switch waiting in there if the first pole craps out.

I've paralled two poles of a DPDT before, under the idea that if one side failed the other may still work.  But that doubles the chances of the switch failing if one side develops a short, which I don't know if that's a common way for footswitches to fail.  Maybe not.

Kind of like stacking your two sandwich halves on top of each other.

Now I'm hungry.  :D
Thanks for the replies.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
