Marshall Guv'nor - what "Guv'nor" stands for?

It's not an abbreviation. It's "Governor".  As in "mornin' guv'nor!"   (said with a London accent, preferably). It's a fairly %^&*ney term for "boss".

I believe Jim Marshall was referred to as the Guv'nor at the Marshall factory, hence the name.

A governor also refers to a device (often a physical valve or similar type of control) that "governs" how much power/flow something provides.  In that sense, the name has both a humorous and technical reference.
