An ac motor switch question

Hello, I hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction.  I've
made a single speed Leslie cab, and not knowing much about electronics, I wired
a switch to "make or break" the AC connection to the motor.  When using it by itself I have no problems, but when I hook into my DI (one line to the PA and the parallel out to the Leslie Cab) I get a pop in the mains and monitors when I switch the motor off.

How do I get the pop out of the audio when I switch the motor?  I've read about a true bypass switch but they don't say anything about AC current.  Perhaps a grounding issue?  I've tried turning off the ground on the DI to no avail.

I spoke with someone more knowing than I and he said:
"While I have never had to deal with this issue, my guess is that you will wind
up not switching the motor, but rather setting up a stomp switch for the guitar
signal that goes to the cab."

This would be fine except part of the Leslie's charm is hearing the tremolo drum ramp up and down (via the ac motor).

>I thank you greatly (as do my band mates) for any help you can provide.

I'm guessing that pop you're hearing is the sudden inrush of current that occurs when you turn a motor on. Probably the easiest way I can think of fixing it would be using a seperate power point for the motor and the monitors.
