I really like the guitar sound and the bluesy licks in this song.  Can anybody suggest a fuzz to get me close??

That's off of the newest Wilco album (great, great album by the way). The guitarist is Nels Cline. If you google him he has a page that shows all his gear.

Is it Nels or is it Jeff?  It sounds a lot like Jeff's lead playing too.

Thanks guys.  I should be able to take it from there.  I am not anywhere close to being up to date with the music scene.

Cline does some amazing guitar work on the live Wilco album too.  That was my first exposure to his playing, but it makes me really curious to check out some of his (many) other projects.  And that pedal board of his -- cool stuff.

On a whim I sent an email to the webmaster of the nelscline.com site asking if Nels might offer some insight into gadgets he used for recording various songs on the new Wilco album.  I don't think there's yet been any updates like this to the "techtalk" part of his page, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Jeff is a pretty decent guitarist too, and that riff may be his playing. Overall that entire album has the perfect guitar sound for my ears, the lead that Nels plays is phenomenal.

Bipedal-Funny I sent an email to Nels too. It's been months though with no reply. He also has a myspace page which seems to get more attention these days.

I read the tech page. Am I close when I'm guessing that the tone in that lead is a Ge 69 Fuzz?  I have recently built a Multi-Face from ROG but I haven't found that tone in any of my experimentation.  Maybe start with a Ge Fuzz Face and work from there?
