Hi all,

I'm in the process of building the AMZ Mini Booster and I have all the parts except for the 10pf capacitor that follows the input capacitor and goes to ground.  Can anyone explain the purpose of this cap?  What difference will I notice if I use a 47pf cap (or string 2 47pf caps in series for 23.5pf).

Any help/explanations would be much appreciated.  Thanks!!

Derek

it bleeds some of the highs/treble to ground to keep it from getting too harsh. you probably won't noctice much of a difference swapping in either the single 47pf or the pair. if you have sockets use them so you can play around with it.

Thanks for the info Foxfire!  I don't have any sockets at the moment, so I'll probably just go for the series combo. I appreciate the help/explanation.

Actually the function of that cap is to shunt radio frequencies to ground: this way they won't be amplified by your minibooster.
Of course, the bigger the cap (it acts like a high cut), the more you might also shunt the highest frequencies of your guitar, i.e. presence. But I think 10p, or even something more, still won't affect your signal. If it does, however, it is welcome, as it will make your boosted sound smoother.
