Hey Guys.  I live in a terrible place to paint.  Outside conditions are horrible and I'm looking for a way to get consistent paint jobs everytime.  Has anyone built anything like this?  I rent so I can't build something that I can't break down when I'm done.  I built a tent with some tarp to keep fumes off vehicles but one good breeze and I had to go chase it.  I'm thinking of something like a table sized box I can paint in that's completely closed with a vent fan and filter that I could run out a window. Think biological testing.  Even feasible?  Ideas? Thanks.

I have though about this some. An old refrigerator with some holes cut into the door, a turntable. It would also need a positive air pressure system with an efficient filter to eliminate dust and a couple od 100 watt lights for drying. In the end it just seemed to much work for the time, space and patients I have.

There are some plans on the internet I found from car guys doing their own hot rod paint jobs but eliminating the dust is the hard part. Try searching some car sites.

I found another solution. I take my boxes to a commercial powder coater and get in on a gang run. You can't be too picky about color. What ever color they are doing that day will have to do. My boxes are so small they don't even charge me as long as I show up with the boxes ready to hang on their spray racks. I do that with some bailing wire bent around a screw in the box.

It also helps that I come with coffee and donuts. Its more than worth it considering you get a super tough paint job and you don't need to sand the box at all.

Good luck.
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
