Few months back tried to make a whirly gig but couldn't even get it to sound like the clips, has anybody been more successful and did you mod it and do you have a layout?

i built a modded one, i added bias pots for both transistor (because i couldnt find the actual resistors, and to add mmore pots)  and a gain pot/fuzz pot , and i removed the tremolo (the cap and the switch, although i considering it) i used mpsa14's. i might build another one day with the proper parts. and now that i compare mine to the sound sample.... doesnt sound like it either... doobidoob....

what transistors did you use? what pots? etc

I built it twice on the breadboard. I got fuzz but not tremolo. And lots of noise in between.
After a little modification the fuzz worked well but the trem was lost.

i think the tremolo might have been a fluke or something

i got it to trem. it didn't sound as good as his clip but, it did trem. remember it's subtle and can't really be heard on chords until they start to ring out and decay.

I had similar results to John, lots of noise and a ticking which was very load and non usable .

I used mpsa13 i think if i remember. Might just give thyis one a miss now.

Thanks for the inputs everyone
