I get alot of grab bag stuff, and I've scored some great parts that way, but I've noticed that many of the "assortments" I've gotten haven't been very assorted at all..... ie, I now have a million 100nF and 470nF caps - the grab bag was supposed to be a bunch of different values, but it was almost entirely just those two. Another grab bag got me a whole pile of 22K resistors and not much else. And sometimes, random unrelated parts will show up too; like my grab bag of metal film resistors that had a bunch of tantalum caps in it.

The guy said it was a pretty fair assortment and let me pick how many pounds of each kind of component I wanted.

I suppose if I need stuff, I can use some of it as trade fodder.

I'm sure there will be plenty of stuff in there to get a good collection of parts started. I'm still going through some grab bags I got years ago...
