Ive been trying to figure out what is making my boss High Band Flange so metallic lately and really have no idea what could be changed. Im guessing its some kind of issue in the resonance circuit but there are also some really cheap crappy caps in there. Does replacing caps with better quality ones offer any improvement with boss pedals?

Hi, track down the schematic if you have the time, I bet there is a cap that can be increased in value that affects the high end rolloff in the flanger's regeneration path, or in the high end rollof of the delayed signal.

Boss pedals seem to use film caps mostly, which do the job just fine.  I wouldn't trip on the quality of the components being why it sounds crappy.

Based on your comment, it sounds as if at one time it sounded just fine.

Is that the case?

Nope. It has always sounded metallic. I just dont remember it being as bad.
