Split signal "leaking backwards" in signal chain; why ?

I'm experimenting with split signals in my signal path, and have run into something I found a bit odd.
When I set it up as shown in the block diagram below, I get a sort of "leak" from the Bass Fuzz unit and back via output B to the right hand amp where I expected to hear only the clean signal. Can anyone explain why this occurs ?

By the look of things, you're just splitting the signal using a Y-connector.  If that's the case, both paths resulting from the split share the same ground, and that's your problem.  Wire has some resistance, so a minuscule voltage (AC signal) is generated across the resistance of the ground wire; this in turn is amplified by your other amp.

I dare say there's something over at Geofex that can explain it far better than myself (take a look).

Thanks Gerry.
Your explanation is more than suficient.
And I thought I'd get away with a simple Y split...
