would it be possible to put a pot at the input that feeds two separate fuzz face circuits (silicon/germanium) that could for example be hard panned one way or the other to give you only silicon or germanium and in the middle position act as a blend? also, could the two circuits meet to share a common output pot?

Use the splitter blend from RoG:

Splitter at the input, blend at the output.

You may want to compensate for the increased highs because of the buffer compared to a normal ff.

FF has low impedance input to begin with, X 2 FF = half that, signal loading may become apparent.
Stick a buffer in front to get a good impedance match and it is no longer a 2 transistorFF, and loses the ability to rolloff to clean at the guitars volume. Three transistor fuzz tones sounds cool too, just a different thing.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

It would indeed be possible, go for it.

theoretically i agree with pete, but if a 1 meg pot is used as the blender the effect of the impedence might not effect the cleanup up the ff too much. not sure what the taper would be like in real life tho.
