Changing a Pot value with a resistor?

i searched quickly to see if there was a post that contained this and apologize if I missed something.

I need a 100k linear pot and I have a 25K and 500K, but nothing in the middle. I was hoping not to have to place another order and the local radio shack is empty.

Can I add a 75K resistor to the 25K to make it operate as a 100K?

Thanks

Not very usefully. This site has a calculator for pot tapering down from larger values.

wouldn't work. you'd still have 25k worth of range instead of the needed 100k
