anyone know how to add an effects loop to a tube mp or some other inexpensive xlr in / out mic pre type thing?

I've done some circuit improvements to a Tube MP, it's a bitch to work on ( very small and packed inside ) and really
there's not room to add anything like new jack sockets for insert I/O to it, some improvements to parts and
the valve are worth while though IMO.
If you have a rack version of the MP, then I'm sure that it would be possible.
The MP is "just" a preamp, so I'm wondering why you would want to cutinto it for a send/return ?
It would be better to do this on say a channel strip that has a pre/eq etc, to make it almost a full "mixing desk strip"

i am actually planning on taking the guts out of the chassis and putting it in a larger floor unit for live vocals.

i am making a vocal effects unit, and i figured this would be the easiest way to get the xlr in/out thing happening.

i figured the mp would be a good candidate to steel the guts from since they are OK sounding and cheap.

i would just as soon use any type of other unit i could rip up.  i am figuring the effects loop would be the easiest way to match the high imp effects and the low imp input and output.

any new thoughts?

I'm I think you're trying to kill a fly with a cannonball...
There's no reason to have a full mic preamp at the stage, because the signal is going to go through a mic preamp at the mixing desk anyhow.
What you need is a simple transformer that will change the mic's impedance, and then you could basically use any regular stompbox effect you would like on it.

(I could swear I wrote a very similar post earlier this week  ;D)
