Is the tonemender's tonestack interchangeable?

Yeah, we all know it and love it  :P

But can the dual opamp set up be used for any other tonestack that you want to put in there? Just splice it between pins 1 and before the 1M to Vref before pin 5? I'm not sure if the dual opamp is 'tuned' that particular circuit or not. If it could drive and regain, say, the fender bassman tonestack, which features and 1M bass pot?  Or would it just be easier to use the BMP tone gain stage after the tonestack?

You could probably put your own tonestack in there, the one they made was just made to be the most flexible, but you could voice your own for your own particular sound.  I don't think there is anything magic about the components chosen, though you may have to change some components outside of the area you mentioned for optimal performance.

The first op-amp is just a unity gain buffer, and the second is a level booster. Its roll-off frequencies are set so that it doesn't really shape the sound. I agree with Ripthorn.
