Hi everyone.

I'm looking to smooth out the tone of my big muff built to triangle specs.  Stock it's pretty buzzy, and has plenty of gain.  I'm after a smoother David Gilmour type of muff sound.  Any ideas on how I can add some mids and smooth out the tone?

Thanks.

If you are just looking to smooth out the crunch, try messing around with the clipping diodes, or adding a small cap (0.001 uf or so) in place or in parallel with the clipping diodes.

Take a look over at tonepad. They have a comparison chart of three different big muffs. Tiangle, standard and green.
You can off diodes out of the transistors to mellow it out and give more volume. As aron says, you can also add caps to the diodes to cut some of the fizzies out. Search for the "creamy dreamer" schematic as well.
