There's quite a few steps there that he makes look easy but I 'm sure require a lot of skill.

At the start you get the impression he doing it in his back yard, but it couldn't be further from the truth.  Check out the jigs and tooling he has at his disposal.  The machine shop at the end gives you an idea of the stuff he has access too.

From a technical side I know real valves used coatings to aid emissions from the heater - you aren't going to get that from NiCr wire - perhap's thats why they glow so brightly?
