pnp blue - general question

hi,

i've never used pnp blue before, actually there's nothing of that sort in the stores in my city so I ordered a sheet from some diy orientated webshop.

the thing is, I'm going to use it for etching, and would like to paint the etched part also, for instance, etched letters, logos, graphics, etc..

i have a black aluminum box, standard bb type.

i understand the procedure, the copying, the ironing, etc... so when i'm done with the transfer, it's etching time - after the procedure is finished, i need to paint the etched areas while the pnp blue is still present, so i guess i'm applying the spray paint, after couple of mins it's dry, and then....

how do i remove the pnp blue without damaging the black paint underneath the pnpblue? is wet sanding the only way? i have never used this kind of transfer method before.

can i just peel it of?

share your thoughts,

thanks

right I am not sure if I read correct....

you know about how to etch the enclosure?  Have you read and seen Marks photoessay?  if not search it.  Its great

ok so you iron on the pnp and any bare Aluminium is gona be etched..........

ok now you have finished etching..... Remove the PnP blue.  I use cellulose thinners or you can use acetone or just some water a piece of scotchbrite and some hard work!

then if you want to spray  paint inside the etched area, just spray over it all. then get some fine wet and dry and a block and once the paint is dry rub the paint off the top face leaving the etched areas perfectly painted.

Is that what you where asking? If not ask again Just more slowly hahaha

okay heh

i have a aluminium enclosure, but it's painted black, so i want to etch it and then paint the etched parts...

for instance green etched letters on a black surface..

i guess since the enclosure is already painted, i cannot etch it? or am i wrong?

your problem here is the paint is going to act as an etch resist in its own right........

you can etch an enclosure then paint it and paint the etched letters a different colour I done it on last 2 projects. look on the pictures post at my Purple Fuzz pedal you will see the type of results you can get
