I finished a couple pedals but realized I may not be using the correct 1/4 jacks. I noticed on the sho and dist+ I just built that the battery's ground is only connected with a cable in the jack. I have jacks for my amps that are always open or always closed then open upon cable insertion. I assume I need a jack the makes a connection when the cable is inserted. Is this correct?

P.S. I have a request for a Rat vero in the circuit request section

You use a stereo jack, guilds...a TRS type.  Tip is signal, ring is battery ground, and sleeve is your circuit ground.  Plugging in connects the ring and shield, and completes your ground path.   There is a lot of info on this by searching "input jack" etc...

thanks for the reply

I did a search and found the stereo tip setup but I also found a nylon tipped contact that was isolated from the sleeve connector and wasn't sure which to use . Before these 2 circuits all I did was tube amps with high voltages everywhere. I have to keep reminding myself its nine volts.  :icon_redface:

I did a little write up that illustrates the standard dc jack and TRS sleeve power switching arangement for stompboxes, may be of some help: http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/PedalPower/
