I started out with nothing... I still have most of it.

Shouldn't the connection for 'fine' be shorted together? If you leave it open as shown in your pictures, the LFO output is not connected....

the SYM jumper takes care of that. It connects SPEED to the 2k7 limiting resistor, which goes to the LFO output via SMOOTH. See
http://commonsound.org/tremulus/pcb2.4.1/schematic.pdf, the schematic

dap9, one more thing: try replacing the 10uF in the LFO section, they can go bad, too.

It was just the 4558 chip!  Replaced that and all seems well.  I'm gonna get it in the case and i'll report back :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

hi guys, I'm just jumping in on this thread 'cause I'm building my first 4ms stereo panneur.

congrats to dap9 for getting his trem working.

I noticed all this talk about the LED and cells facing each other and what not. To be honest, I've built some gain boxes but have not a clue what to do in this this situation, I have no experience working with these components.

I hope someone can just clear this up for me, I'm totally stoked to have the panneur and I'm excited to use it for a show this weekend, but this little catch has got me stalled, cause I'm nervous. Don't feel like desoldering to much.

The gold strips need to be facing the LED? Taped together? Shrink wrapped?!!!
yikes!

thanks for any help.

The LED needs to face the LDR, yes. Do a search for "homemade vactrol" or something, tons of info about this. But shrink-wrapped? That's mostly for testing purposes, right? After all, the circuit will be in an light-tight enclosure.
