I took a ts5, broken and robbed of it's parts and decided one rainy day to see if i couldfix it just forsomething to do.
I first looked to DIY for essentila infoon the TS5... as I read the postings, I started getting curious as to maybe modding it into something more to my taste like an 808.... so, I did. It's now my first choice  on my board wich only has 4 pedals on it anyway, but hey, I was never a TubeScreamer guy, also I refuse to pay 1,000 clamsfor a vintage one.
So, with the help of someother non working stomp boxes with higher quality parts, I had all I needed to mod the TS5 into several configurations allowing me to choose which one I liked the most...  and of course, now I'm hooked....figures.  :o
I decided to paint itwith one of those swirl paint schemes. Using Black, white, and three different shades of green.. .. cause you know, Tubescreamers can only be Green or they won'tsound right.... right? :icon_neutral:
I'm charging my camera battery and will post some pics tomorrow.
In painting the soundtank enclosure, wich I find not horrible at all. I didn;t mic the paint as thin as  few posters here reccomend,I tried it as posted but found it to be a bit thin and run-away. So I went the other route and was successful or at least satisfied. I also used a clear enamel to protect it. I applied several coats of enamel over a work day and it looks deadly..... the way the greens and black with the white intermingle is really captivating to me, and best of all it looks like a tubescreamer. I even went so far during the initial paint drying process to wait for it to clot up a bit then used a bicycle spoke to carve 808 on the front.. it looks wild. The clear enamel fills in and evens out any heavy areas, no worries there.
Oh, and of course I changed the led to a green one, cause you know, Tube screamers can only be green.. right? :-*

So my next build is a chorus pedal using three knobs in an older union/dod casing..I  already finished the case with..umm, Black/white, lavendar, Pink, Fuscia and Coral... it looks like somebody threw up Good n Plenty candy..... hehe.... Oh, cause y'know Chorus pedals have to be purple or something like that, or they won;t sound good at all..... :icon_biggrin:

There ain't no build until we've seen pictures of this ;)
And I also had this idea of buying broken stompboxes from people that didn' use them anymore and try to fix them or scavenge them for parts and the enclosure: in fact, my first 'broken stompbox' is on its way, hope it turns out as good as yours :)
