Hotplate Safety

Is this safe to do? I have a Marshall Head set on 8ohms into a 16ohm hotplate and then a 16ohm cabinet. Would it be safe to put a Heil talkbox between the Hotplate and the cabinet. The talkbox can only take 8ohms. Im thinking that the hotplate with 8 ohms going into it even though its 16ohms should only put out 8ohms the other side as it is not technically a load itself. Any ideas?
