LM386N-1 can be used in ROG's Big Daddy?

Hello,

I've just finished to build a ROG's Big Daddy (using this layout: http://www.runoffgroove.com/grace-sm.pdf), but no sound!!!

This seems to me very strange because it's a very simple effect...it is possible to not work because of LM386N-1...it isn't suitable for Big Daddy?

Searching on this forum I have read in a post that LM386N-1 accept at most 6V...it is possible to burn it from start powering it at 9V?

Thx a lot!

Unless you chip is broken (or one of the pins not connected?) it should work fine. Do a debug on the pedal, should work fine, the lm386 can handle up to 12v so 9 wouldnt be a problem.

I've looked at numerous 386 datasheets online is preparation for building my ruby amp.  The LM386N-1 should work fine under 9V.  I believe its max operating voltage is 12V per the datasheet.  So if you were operating up in that max range I would say you may have fried it, but I would start looking elsewhere for the problem.

I suppose its possible that you could get a bad/dead chip from the manufacturer, but I would think that is pretty rare  ???

Sounds like this may be a good case for an audio probe.  I don't have much experience with those, but I'm sure others here could help you with that.

Good Luck
